STRANGER 2025

Join us for Theatre Encounter’s 2025 STRANGER presentation: IN THE WINDOWLIGHT created by Jo Dickau-Duguay and Lane Sayer

We spend our days looking through windows. Through these membranes, mirrors and walls, we get an unfettered and momentary glimpse into a stranger’s life – a life that we may witness, but is filtered and separated through layers of glass and perspective.
In the windowlight uses physical theatre and film to explore how self-constructed barriers present themselves in people’s lives over the course of a day. Can these barriers be obscured? Can we regain our connection with the strangers in the windowlight?

IN THE WINDOW LIGHT was presented as part of the New Works Double Bill with Theatre Encounter’s mainstage production of RODE HARD & HELL BENT FOR LEATHER, March 26-29, 2025 at the Abattoir Studio @ cSpace King Edward (Calgary AB)

WHAT IS STRANGER?

Theatre Encounter’s STRANGER initiative presents the creations of early-career artists and those working on new performance projects outside of the style of Realism. We invite artists from all performance genres and disciplines into our Abattoir Studio to create and present performances that challenge, surprise and delight audiences that are hungry for non-traditional approaches to performance and story.

We accept proposals for STRANGER presentations throughout the year. If you are an artist with an idea for STRANGER, please contact artistic producer Val Duncan (artisticproducer[at]theatreencounter.com) for more information.
