Join us for Theatre Encounter’s 2026 presentation – a double bill of new physical theatre works by Theatre Encounter and the Baader Meinhof Collective
Starting at 7:10PM in the cSpace Marda Loop ground floor Hallway, BUTCH is a new work in development, based on the life of a real Albertan rodeo pioneer, Butch. Inspired by interviews with the woman herself, music, horses and MTV, the Baader Meinhof Collective invites you to see the first iteration of a new performance project in the immersive environment of the cSpace Marda Loop facility, against the backdrop of an exhibition of paintings from MUSH LOVE arts.
Following BUTCH, head down the hall to the cSpace Theatre for a presentation of A SUPPLEMENT – expanded and revised from the original presentation created in March 2022. A physical meditation on the writings of Antonin Artaud, A SUPPLEMENT explores the nature of consciousness, the death before life, religiosity, and corporeality.
MARCH 25-28, 2026, CSPACE MARDA LOOP (1721 29 AVE SW CALGARY)
Presentations 7PM nightly, with a 2PM matinee on March 28.

WHAT IS STRANGER?
Theatre Encounter’s STRANGER initiative presents the creations of early-career artists and those working on new performance projects outside of the style of Realism. We invite artists from all performance genres and disciplines into our Abattoir Studio to create and present performances that challenge, surprise and delight audiences that are hungry for non-traditional approaches to performance and story.
We accept proposals for STRANGER presentations throughout the year. If you are an artist with an idea for STRANGER, please contact artistic producer Val Duncan (artisticproducer[at]theatreencounter.com) for more information.
Theatre Encounter gratefully acknowledges the support of our funders and sponsors
