WHAT IS STRANGER FEST?
Stranger Fest is a performance and art festival dedicated to exploring, promoting presenting styles outside of Realism. Works presented at the festival are curated by Artistic Director Michael Fenton and Festival Producer Val Duncan to showcase Expressionism, Surrealism, Absurdism and other styles, to counter the overwhelming tide of Realism in art and entertainment, and advance alternative modes of experience for Calgary audiences. At our inaugural 2024 festival, we are pleased to present works by artists from across Canada, as well as Theatre Encounter’s mainstage production, PRAIRIE MADNESS. The festival takes its name from Albert Camus’ landmark philosophical work, “The Stranger.”
